Challenging Parking Charges For Liskeard

Liskeard Town Forum has been vocal for a long time about the impact of Car Parking Charges on the viability of the high-street in Liskeard, and the impact the charges have on the competativeness of the town centre compared to online and out of town retail.

Liskeard Town Forum has challenged the planned Cornwall Council Parking Charge rise at the start of 2020, and, in the spirit of being open and transparent, we will publish all of the emails and correspondence on this important topic for Liskeard soon.

Free Parking for Liskeard During December 2020

Liskeard Town Forum has led a campaign to get free parking throughout December for Liskeard from Cornwall Council.

Shops across Cornwall have had to close during some of their busiest periods this year, while online has been able to trade as normal.

This has put the high-street at a huge disadvantage to compete, and especially with the November lock-down, Christmas revenue will be impacted going into 2021.

With the loss of so many days of trading due to Covid-19, Liskeard Town Forum has been pushing Cornwall Council to offer free parking across Liskeard and Cornwall to encourage shoppers back into our high-streets for December and give Liskeard shop keepers a chance of obtaining some of their normal sales.

So far the response from Cornwall Council has been muted, with the only replies being interviews on BBC Radio Cornwall, during their afternoon phone in programme. These interviews can be listened to here: https://www.liskeardforum.org.uk/?page_id=312

Liskeard town forum believes in being open and transparent, and all of the letters sent regarding December free parking can be read on the following links.
